The Planner: Your External Brain

The Planner: Your External Brain

Description: In this episode, Melissa and Maribeth (from ADD Professionals) discuss the importance of choosing the right Planner to help keep ADDers organized and focused.

Written Transcript

You know you need a planner if:

*You make lists that you lose or never use.
*You write down appointments & phone numbers on sticky notes & then lose those notes!
*You forget appointments…

It can drive you crazy  & make your life more complicated!
So, is it better to use paper planners or smartphones?
Here are some things to consider………….

Paper Planners:

* There are a lot of different types to choose from and a wide range of prices.

* They allow you to view an entire day, week or month at a glance.

* They are inexpensive to replace and easy to use.

*There is something wonderful about using a pencil to write everything down.  The physical act of writing actually helps some people remember better.  Changes can easily be made with an eraser.

*They never have to be charged!

Smart Phones:

*Easy to focus on one day, one week or one month at a time.

*If your phone is with you, then your calendar is always with you!

*You can add & delete information easily.

*With smart phones, the same information transfers to your computer.

*The alarms are wonderful to remind you of an event you don't want to forget.

So, both have advantages and disadvantages.  It is a person choice.
The most important point is to choose one……and only one.
Think of it as your “external brain"!
